Minion Gift Tags

On what did you spend your last craft minutes before Christmas? Minion gift tags were my last minute "had to have".
Yesterday I sent a text to my son who works at WalMart asking him to bring home some Minion Christmas gift tags for my grandson's packages. He told me that this would be too hard to find. My husband said, "Can't you just make those?" Well now that sounded like a challenge!

I went to Karen Burniston's website for the directions to make a Minion from two of her die sets: Hoppy the Frog and Chilly the Penguin. I altered the directions a bit to create Kevin, the Reindeer;  Bob, the Elf, and Santa Stewart.
Several other Burniston dies were used to add some fun Christmas extras to the tags.

3 Snowflakes and a Snowman

Here is a traditional Christmas card with non-traditional colors.

I started with a piece of white card stock - 5 1/4 x 4. I lightly distressed it with Gina K inks: Dusty Rose, Jelly Bean Green, Lemon Drop, and Lovely Lavender. I used a bubble stencil and Wild Wisteria ink to cover the distressing with dots. I used a nesting die to die cut the background twice. The largest piece is pop dotted; the middle glued to the black A2 card base. I saved the smallest for the inside of the card.

I die cut blue spruce pine boughs from Elizabeth Craft die set: "Pine Boughs and White Pine Cones" and placed them in the corners.

The Gina K snowflakes are die cut from glitter foam sheets. Each snowflake has a velvet covered lime green brad. I didn't want the brads to show on the inside of the card, so I pierced a round pop dot and inserted the brads thru the snowflake centers then thru the pop dot.

The snowman (Gina K: Holiday Season) is stamped on watercolor paper. I swiped the Jelly Bean Green ink pad on my craft mat and used a water brush to paint the snowman hat and scarf. (Sweet Mango for the carrot nose) Diamond Stickles were painted onto hat trim and snow.  3 black gems were added over the snowman buttons. The snowman is mounted on black using Silhouette offset option.

Cheepers! Another Birthday Card!

Here is a Karen Burniston die: "Cheepers, the Chicken". Cheepers is a bit surprised at the moment, but those eyes have that effect.
I used a faux wood grain background. To make it I scored the turquoise card stock every 1/4 inch and sawdust card stock every 1/2 inch. I dragged a white pigment ink pad with the score lines over the card stock. Then I lightly dragged a brown ink over top of that. It gives an unexpected look of wood.

String of Lights

I designed this tag for a Christmas tag swap. The paper collection: Carta Bella (Christmas Time) was a requirement. I used several of Elizabeth Craft Designs' new dies. I have to say the die set, Ribbons and Jewels, is going to be one of my go-to favorites.
I am inspired by the colors on my tag as seen on Carol Mayne's tag from Tag You're It!  I am merely celebrating a different occasion.

Birthday Clown Car

Surprise! This card has this element. There is a hint as you can see a bit of a clown hat behind an acetate car window. When you give the card a pull ...

. . . out pop 3 clowns - all in different attire courtesy of Echo Park's "Birthday Boy" paper line. The perfect color pallet for a car full of clowns.

Art of Chess - Birthday Card

I have designed this card for a chess lover. The stamp set is made by Chocolate Baroque. Most of the papers are from my scrap box, so it would be a real challenge to make an organized supply list for this one.

What I can tell you is that I used Tim Holtz Lattice die to create the binding. I downloaded a chess board from the Silhouette website and cut it from cereal box cardboard. I used this as a mask with fired brick Distress Ink. The small squares under the metal bling are the pieces that fell out of the checker board.
For the background on the front, inside, and back I used a faux weathered wood finish. I did the scoring at 1/2 inch intervals on the front of the card. For the inside and the back, I skipped this step. I dragged a white pigment ink pad followed by Adirondack's expresso ink to give the wood look.

The clean-up for this project was brutal!
