Swing in the Oak Tree

The Memory Box "Grand Oak Tree" die is one of the first dies I bought. I have never used it. When the LOTV "Milly Me and My Dog" stamp arrived last week, I wondered if the swing would blend with the oak tree. So what do you think?

I started with LOTV sketch #25.

Apples in a Row

I'm putting together a set of autumn-themed birthday cards. I decided to use the Tim Holtz die cut called "chevron". It leaves room for using several different solid and pattern papers.

I needed to cut several papers in order to fill some of the chevron. Because of this I ended up using red, brown, and green solids. I also chose one pattered paper for each card.

I used my Copics to color the apples from the Gina K (Stamp TV) set called "Simple Things", pop dotted one random apple, and used a gold gel pen to add sparkle to the pop dotted apple. Elizabeth Craft gold stickers were added to some of the chevrons.

As usual the inside of the card is inspired by the scraps left on my craft table. I used part of the leftover chevron from the pattern paper as well as an apple stamped in red rather than black. The "happy birthday" is from the birthday set by Red Rubber Designs.

Sew Charming

I received a package of 9 sewing charms free with my issue of "Cardmaking and Papercrafting Magazine". I love working with the sewing theme.  The paper I used was some leftovers of Pebbles "Family Ties Collection". I believe the paper is discontinued, but it is so pretty that I thought it would be a good choice for this theme. The first 4 cards are very similar to the example cards in the magazine. The last 3 are my own designs.

Sending Sunshine

How about a birthday card with fall in mind? I used a couple of easy techniques on this one. I started by making my own background. I embossed a piece of ivory card stock with "Tiny Polka" by Paper Studio. Then I held a Stampin Up soft suede inkpad upside down and dragged it over the paper to give a shabby look. If you do it very lightly, only the polkas are inked, but if you push harder, this is the effect that you get.
The second technique I used was inking the stamp with Tim Holtz distress markers. I used 6 colors: 2 greens, 2 oranges, and 2 browns. The stamp is Penny Black's "Garden Poems". There are actually 3 sunflowers on this stamp, but I only inked up two of them. You can see on the right of the stamp that there is the beginning of the third sunflower. Funny that this didn't bother me. I love the uniqueness of each time we stamp anyway. No two stamps are ever really the same.
The wood banner embellishment is a lucky find at Tuesday Morning. Since I immediately opened the packaging and dumped it into my embellishment stash, I can give you no further information on that.
The flourish in the corner and inside the card are done on my trusty Cameo Silhouette. I purchased it from Silhouette: "Simple Swirl" by Carina Gardner. I attached it only on the ends, so it does not lay flat on the card (inside as well). I am "in like" with shadows on my cards.

Kaleidoscope

This is another card make with a charm that came as a free gift in my "Cardmaking and Papercrafting Magazine". I cut the blue doily  and the inside flowers with my Silhouette Cameo. I believe the cut file was free from Miss Kate Cuttables. I used acetate to cover the inner circle of the doily. It gives a window - or in this case - a kaleidoscope effect. The stamps are Stampin Up: Polka-Dot Pieces.

Basket of Yarn

This is my attempt to use this yarn charm that I got free in my issue of "Cardmaking and Papercrafting". I used a digital basket which I fussy-cut. I used twine to make skeins of yard for the basket.
The paper is Pebbles "Family Ties Collection". The blue flower is a button.
